As part of its commitment to achieving environmental sustainability goals, University of Baghdad has implemented a series of awareness workshops and student-led initiatives aimed at reducing the carbon footprint and enhancing energy efficiency across the campus.

These efforts included a variety of activities and events, most notably:

🔹 Organizing training workshops on the concept of carbon footprint and practical ways to reduce daily emissions, with participation from students and academic staff.

🔹 Launching awareness campaigns to promote electricity conservation, including posting guidance throughout classrooms and administrative offices.

🔹 Implementing tree-planting initiatives on campus to expand green spaces and improve air quality.

🔹 Hosting student-led events supervised by volunteer teams, including the Green Tech Team, to promote green economy and clean energy practices.

🔹 Conducting scientific sessions in engineering faculties focused on energy efficiency technologies and the use of renewable energy sources.

🔹 Moving towards the use of solar energy to power certain campus facilities, reducing reliance on conventional energy sources and lowering carbon emissions.

🔹 Deploying modern buses dedicated to student transport within the campus, reducing private vehicle usage and helping decrease congestion and emissions.

Additionally, the University of Baghdad has implemented a vehicle entry policy, restricting campus access to fourth-year students and staff only. This measure aims to encourage students to use public transportation and campus buses, thereby reducing dependence on private cars, lowering carbon emissions, and fostering a more sustainable campus environment.

These initiatives contribute to raising environmental awareness within the university community and support the University’s commitment to reducing carbon emissions while creating a sustainable learning environment aligned with global standards.
