In line with its commitment to sustainability and community engagement, the University of Baghdad has supported a student-led initiative resulting in the launch of the first issue of the “Green Tech” magazine for 2025. The magazine was developed by the Green Tech Team, a student group from the Department of Public Relations at the College of Media, reflecting the university’s emphasis on empowering students to actively contribute to sustainability efforts.

The “Green Tech” magazine serves as a platform to promote awareness of the green economy, environmental sustainability, and climate action. Produced entirely by students, this initiative highlights the role of youth in driving environmental change and supports the integration of sustainability principles into academic and extracurricular activities.

The inaugural issue features a wide range of content, including articles, investigative reports, and scientific studies covering renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and green building practices. It also includes interviews with environmental experts and showcases impactful success stories of Iraqi youth contributing to sustainability.

Furthermore, the publication incorporates academic research and doctoral studies that explore the role of green economy policies in fostering sustainable economic growth. Field investigations addressing urban expansion, orchard degradation, and climate change impacts on local communities further demonstrate the magazine’s relevance to real-world environmental challenges.

This initiative reflects the University of Baghdad’s commitment to embedding sustainability within student activities and enhancing environmental literacy. It contributes directly to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 13 (Climate Action) and Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), while also supporting broader institutional efforts in sustainability education, awareness, and community impact.

The magazine has been positively recognized by specialists in environmental and media fields, highlighting it as a strong example of student engagement and a meaningful contribution to sustainability discourse in Iraq.
